NBA fines Magic $25,000 for Black availability violation
The NBA fined the Orlando Magic $25,000 on Thursday for violating league injury reporting policies. Orlando failed to accurately disclose the game status of guard Anthony Black ahead of Monday's matchup against the Detroit Pistons. Black, listed as out, entered the game and scored 14 points with two steals.
Black had missed the previous 15 games while recovering from an abdominal strain. The Magic defeated the Pistons 123-107 at Kia Center in Orlando, securing their third straight victory. They extended the streak to four wins by outlasting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Black, a third-year player from Arkansas, averages 15.1 points and 3.8 assists across 62 games this season, including 40 starts.
Orlando holds the Eastern Conference's seventh position entering Friday's game at the Chicago Bulls. The Pistons, who have clinched the East's best record, face the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
